Hello
Hi, I'm Ian. I work with clients who are 18 and older, providing tailored to meet their needs. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and help you achieve your goals.
My Story
I work exclusively with young people and adults aged over 18. Working with both women and men, I have a broad experience of working through the different and unique challenges that people face in their everyday lives today. Everybody is different and it is important to listen and understand the world through each individuals own lens.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in a project delivery environment within the financial services industry. I developed an interest in supporting people who were struggling with their mental health due to the demands they experienced in balancing and fulfilling their everyday responsibilities within their family and workplace settings.
Whilst I trained to be a therapist, I worked with The Counselling Foundation, a non-profit organisation based in Beds and Herts who provide reduced cost counselling to adults.
I am a qualified therapist with an Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling which means I draw on the theories of Freud, Klein and Bion amongst others within his approach. Whilst I tailor my work to each individual, the focus is on the unconscious thoughts and feelings that underpin each person’s individual reality.
Issues that typically emerge in the work include:
Attachment Issues
Abuse
Addiction
Anger Management
Anxiety
Bereavement, Grief and Loss
Childhood Trauma
Confidence and Self Esteem Issues
Depression
Family Issues
Relationship problems
Sexual trauma
Workplace anxiety
I am an accredited counsellor through the British Association for Counsel and Psychotherapy (BACP) and hold an enhanced DBS check.
