Hello

I have been practising EMDR since 2017 (8 years’ experience) and am currently undertaking training to become an EMDR Consultant. This means I am accredited and experienced in working with a wide range of trauma presentations and am now advancing towards a senior supervisory role.

Alongside EMDR, I have over 11 years of experience delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and I have been working in the field of mental health since 2005.

My Story

Understanding EMDR1. Initial Contact
I can offer a free 10–15 minute phone call to answer any questions and get a sense of whether EMDR might be the right approach for the client.

2. Assessment Appointment
The first full session is an assessment. In this meeting, I take time to gather background information, understand the client’s current difficulties, and explore their goals for therapy.

3. Preparation Phase
Before moving into memory work, I introduce the client to the EMDR process in more detail and explain how it works. This stage also involves teaching strategies and tools to help them regulate their emotions and feel safe during the work.

4. Memory Processing
Once a client feels ready, we begin addressing distressing or traumatic memories that are connected to their present difficulties. The aim is to reduce the emotional charge of these memories so they no longer have the same impact on day-to-day life.
