Hello

Helen has worked with children and young people for over 20 years in a number of settings including over 15 years working in education as a teacher, then as a 1-1 TA whilst she completed her Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Counselling with the Institute for Art and Therapy in Education, in London.

 

Helen’s work as a therapist has predominantly been with children who have experienced trauma, many having complex trauma. She has a particular interest in sensory and embodied aspects of trauma and to this end is studying for a Diploma in Embodied Psychotherapy.

 

As an Integrative counsellor Helen draws on several theories and approaches in her work including attachment, psychoeducation, neuroscience, and uses play and the arts to support clients in processing their experience of the world. She tailors her work to the needs of the individual.

 

Helen has designed and delivered training to education staff, taking an interactive approach to support the participants understanding. She has also designed, planned and delivered a nurture-based curriculum within a mainstream setting.

 

 

Helen chooses to work holistically with the whole person, but within the work issues that emerge include:
